73-87 frame on my 71?

k so this has been posted alot. i know the wheel base on those is 131.5 and mine is 127 so i have to shorten the frame 4.5in and the body mounts need to be repositiond. i am putting a 3 in body lift on for the hump in the frame. is there anything else that i have not thought of??? and if you could tell me how yours went. thanks!

the older nounts will mount in about the same location. i think we actually used some of the same holes to get started. you will need quiet a bit of body lift under the cab and front clip. not so much under the bed. just make sure when you mount your cab that you can get your distributor out. i had to add a u-joint to the steering shaft. can't think of anything else just now.

Here ya go for an idea. These have all been redone so that they look better but kinda gives ya an idea how we did mine. There is about an inch between the rear of the cab and the frame.

Re: 73-87 frame on my 71?

On a side note. Did this back in 1986. Left the two wheel drive 67 with my brother-in-law on a Saturday (I had to work). When I got home he had the from clip, the cab and bed off of the frame. I had disconnected everything the night before from the cab and front clip. The next Friday night drove the truck into town with open headers as a 4x4.
