Electrical Problems

I'm putting together a 67 C-10 that I started restoring 10 years ago. I'm stuck on a wiring problem. I have no power at the ignition switch. I can use a remote jumper to turn the starter but nothing else. This truck was just a shell when I started so I never had it running at all. One thing that I may have messed up is the starter. There of course are three termanials, the big one goes to the starter than there are 2 small termanials. What if the small ones were hooker up backwards? I'll swap them tommorow and see. Just looking for ideas. Any help would be nice. Thanks

The two small terminals on the solenoid, the "S" post on the inside takes the purple wire and the "R" post on the outside takes the yellow wire. If your runnung an HEI type dist, the yellow wire is not used.

On the front right fender there should be a terminal block.......

There should be a minimum of 3 wires here........if not, won't run.........

I have three wires at that block and they have power. One of the wires that goes to this block has an inline fuse, what is that fuse for?
I disconnected the yellow wire to the starter becouse I do have HEI.
Can I get a wiring digram on line?
Thanks

If your truck wiring is set up for gauges, then there should be a small in-line fuse on both sides of your radiator. They are there to protect your amp meter and don't have anything to do with the engine running. The power wire should have a fusible link in it and if your headlights work, then it should be good.

The fusible link is on the red feed wire coming from the terminal block on the fender. If the wire is facrory it will be about 6" from the terminal block.

Check for power at your altenator, if there is power there, then
the link should be good.

This won't solve your problem. But, have you considered a NEW harness? These people will build it to stock specs, or modify it for HEI, one-wire alternators, etc. They are manufacturers, not middle-men vendors. But, you can buy from them, direct.

The folks who answer their phones are very helpful, too...even before you buy.

I would love a new harness, but I'm so deep into this project that I really need to slow down on the spending. I did get a new partical engine harness from wiringharness.com.
