windshield polish?

Hi Guys,

Is there a product/procedure out there to polish out pits and scratches in a windshield? The PO scratched the crap out of the windshield with cruddy wiper blades, and there are pits galore...I'm sick of looking through it!

Re: windshield polish?

Haven't had to repair any glass scratches yet, (need too), but you might check out some of the products offered here:

This one appears promising:

Keep us posted on your selection and how it works. Hopefully someone else with some experience with a scratch removing product will chime in soon.

Re: windshield polish?

to replace a windshield is very cheap on these trucks

from wwhat i fave heard over the years to polish scratches and pits you end up alot of times with a clear looking windshield with distortion problems in vision and during rain wipers that aren't very effective

Re: windshield polish?

It takes good equipment and skill to polish out a windshield. We sell everything to do it but its really not for the occasional user. You can learn but the cheapest decent tools run about $700 to 800to do it in a decent amount of time. Their our DVD's to teach also available. Most of the cheap kits to do the polishing are exactly that. To polish you need a Cerium-Oxide disc that runs about 8-10 $ and they don't last long

Re: windshield polish?

so it sounds like a new windshield is in my future then... what's it cost for one installed? would I just call up Harmon, or Safelite? I have the stainless rubber trim if that matters...

Re: windshield polish?

any local shop should b able to do it// you should go with a new gasket/just make sure of the trim gasket as i've heard of some shops that refuse to deal with them and want to install a non ss trim gasket
