I used some RS5000 for about 10 years. No complaints. On had a bushing fail and the shock dropped and got bent. I ended up buying ProCom Explorers because the price was a lot better. I think I bought the middle priced ones.

I'm running the Rancho RS9000's. Very happy with them but they are not cheap. 5 way adjustable for ride comfort. I would recommend them............

I have not used but heard good things about Rancho's shocks. The are what I will use when I replace my Tuff Country shocks. I can really get bouncy with the Tuff Country's that I'm using even before I made some changes to my spring packs.

I have Rancho RS5000s on my Blazer, and I like them. They are a nice heavy duty conventional style shock. Some people would recommend a gas shock. BTW - Rancho shocks are made by Monroe, as are most of the other brand named shocks you can buy (Pro-Comp, etc.).

I put rancho RS5000's on a friends jeep cherokee XJ, and it rode well- tight and controlled, but not uncomfortable. Also, I put an RS5000 series steering stabilizer on my parents' Jeep Grand Cherokee for their Christmas present, and it really made a great difference. So, overall, I've had good experiences with them.

All of the shocks use oil for damping. It is forced through holes in a disc. The gas shocks pressurize the oil so that it doesn't foam in HD usage.
