Cork or Rubber gaskets for intake manifold & valve covers?
Hi everyone,
I know this has probably already been addressed but should I use cork or rubber for my intake manifold and valve covers? Should I also add some kind of high temp silicone to the gaskets? Thanks for all of the help. |

From what I've seen it doesn't really matter as long as you have decent valve covers. I have some cheapo chrome covers on mine and I tried both types of gasket and both leaked.

Go with the rubber with steel liner.

The stud kit works as good as it looks too. It is sort of "just right" for me. Not the standard bolt, not the long "T" fasteners, just nice looking hardware, and the bolts I removed were shiny stainless, so I wasn't starting from crappy. I thought the price was right, and I had a few other little things on the order too.

i bought something similar to those about the time that i came to the boards. i bought a set for me and a set for my buddy. i never had one issue with them, but he did since he had the crappy chrome valve covers. and i love that they are re-useable too. i would definately buy another set myself. and those are cheaper than the ones that i had bought about 3 years ago. and i find that having a set of cast, fab'd or cnc'd aluminum valve covers work the best for sealing since they won't bend and warp like steel ones will. but for the intake gaskets they don't make cork for the intake. what i would do for the intake gaskets is get a set of felpro gaskets. i have yet to have one issue with a set of felpro gaskets that i have used aside from the valve cover gaskets(crappy valve covers). and i have used the felpro intake gaskets on all types of intakes and i have no complaints
