Re: Serious Newbie Question

also there is a felpro gasket that is made from silicone that has steel inserts in it to protect against overtorque, and it's reusable too. I couldn't get mine to seal until I got that gasket.

Re: Serious Newbie Question

So I take the 327 out of my 67 clean it all up real nice, put the felpro gasket set on it and new timing chain cover. Fill it with oil and do a oil pressure test, next day oil is leaking out from the front of the pan. Made a trip to the local speed shop, purchased a one piece gasket. It did cost some cash but what a nice gasket. Not sure who made it but wow.

Re: Serious Newbie Question

what ive always done on oil pan gaskets were either A: take a 1/4"drive ratchet and hold it at the head and tighten it snug.. or take a wrench and after it getting tight i go 1/4-1/2 turn past... with no problems or leaks

sorry, I didn't clarify. We are talking about the same gasket, its the silicone one piece felpro gasket. I like it because its reusable and it has the metal inserts, not to mention its one peice.
