I would go over EVERY INCH of the car with a weak magnet to check for bondo. That clone is worth a good penny more than your square. Id be weary if I were you. And also, have a local trusted restoration guy take a look at it.

Re: Should I trade my truck for this? Thoughts and opinions wanted..

I know all about the magnet trick, I came from old cars to square bodies. Auctually have a 67 GTO that im restoring right now and have had a few others. So I know what to look for and where to look. Just wasnt sure if I wanted to make the jump or not... a few guys have estimated the clone to be worth around 10-14k. I havent really talked to the guy to much yet but not sure why he wants to trade, maybe hes sick of the car dont know.

Clean squares are still easy to come by. Clean GTO's are not, even if it is a clone. If its legit, I would do it.

Re: Should I trade my truck for this? Thoughts and opinions wanted..

I have a weak spot for the old goats and road runners both, I'd probably do it if it checked out. My dad did a 67 GTO convertible, got it 100% restored and then sold it like 2 years later. I've missed that car.
Had a helper kid back in the 90's that worked for me, he had GTO Judge (don't recall exact year, had the big rubber bumper, I'm guessing 68 or 69). That car was a screamin' machine. He had a tag that said ALLRISE, had some fun in that car back in the day. We painted it in our shop for him, went with Hugger Orange and it came out slick.

Memory lane man....

You certainly have a awesome looking truck for sure but the car will do nothing but increase in value as for the truck will more or less stay the same . Like everybody else says though check the car out with a fine tooth comb

Re: Should I trade my truck for this? Thoughts and opinions wanted..

More value in the Pontiac, because many parts are interchangeable with the GTO. As noted above, squares are plentiful, and parts for them (while getting harder to find) can still be had. How much does he want in straight out $$? I would make the trade, although I personally don't care for GTOs after 1967 - other people like them. You will still be allowed to post here as square body emeritus.

Re: Should I trade my truck for this? Thoughts and opinions wanted..

If I was at a car show, I would look at your truck before I would look at the Pontiac...... I would keep the truck unless you are bored or tired of it.

The Pontiac is pretty ho-hum looking, IMHO. It's a clone, it is not a GTO. Clone = Clown = Poser = Wanna Be, you don't want that, right?

your decision man . you will get opinions across the board . But the one thing I know for sure the goat will always be worth a lot more than our trucks , in similiar condition. If you take the --what's it's worth equation out of it , yea I would probably keep the truck > know what I mean !

Re: Should I trade my truck for this? Thoughts and opinions wanted..

i like the goat, nice color. BUT your truck is killer too. Id say really if you want the GTO and your not attached to you truck. AND the goat is as good as it looks....you should swap.. it would be easyer to get the value out of the goat then your truck.. just older and rarer is all.
