Re: 1984 GMC short box rod
thank you. every nut and bolt came off this thing.
started by sandblasting a parts frame which ended up being in awesome condition. will load pictures of me shorten the frame down to a short box frame. took truck home and started to rebuild it weekend after weekend but kept it a low budget build. 2.5 inch drop spindles and self made rear axle flip kit. rims and tires i got off of a buddy $50 each! good deal to me. this is not a trailer queen but something i will enjoy. i'm now thinking on redoing the cab as underneath the cab is still very rusty over the winter. gotta love northern rust! |

Re: 1984 GMC short box rod
more pictures.
as of now i'm pretty well done everything i need to put this on the road. one things stopping me is a short box as i did shorten the truck. once a box is on i can then bolt fuel cell in the bed till i later install it at the back inside the frame. |

Re: 1984 GMC short box rod
found out after i have done so that there is a better/stronger way to do it..need to cut out a Z pattern cut.. wheel base is 14" shorter then a long box standard cab so i just eliminated 14" in the middle of the frame. once you put a short box onto it you can mark out the truck mount holes in the rear and will have to cut off part of the frame at the end to shorten the rest.
there is a thread about how to lay the cut out. and i basicly just figured out where on the frame i can cut out where it doesnt interfere with anything |
