Question 1980 chevy grill???

Hey fellas, I just joined the short box club tonight. I now own a 1980 Chevy short box 4x4. My question is, did the 1980 headlights come in both square and round. I have the round set-up like my 77 and 79 trucks. I have seen the 1980 model with both. Are they both correct???

Thanks guys,

Patriot.

Re: 1980 chevy grill???

There were 2 versions of the 80 trucks. There was the early 80 w/ round headlights and the late 80 w/ square headlights. I too got the round headlights.

thanks

Re: 1980 chevy grill???

I think the square headlight front end was only for high end models, as I've only seen silverados with the square headlights. Just a thought.

Re: 1980 chevy grill???

From what I've been told, the square lights were only available on the Silverados.

Both are correct. It was not based on when they were produced, it was standard on all Silverados.

I have a crappy old Custom Deluxe. But I'm glad I got the round eyes. I like them better. I can add power windows and so forth to it if I want.

Round is the only way to go IMHO!!! I have 2 other trucks 81 and 82 and I think they are cool but the single square 80 is butt ugly.

Re: 1980 chevy grill???

Not all silverados had power windows and locks. You could order them how ever you wanted back then.

X2

I was going to say that I've seen square lights on Scottsdales before.
I personally like the square headlights a lot.

Now Now, I love the 81-87 front ends like yours but the flat face grill(80 only) with one headlight is butt ugly.

The 81-87 is my second favorite. I think GM should have just went from round to the sloped front end and skip the flat 80 with the one square headlight. Just my .02.
