Stove pipe block off

So I am going to put a pro-flow air cleaner on and am wondering what you guys have done to block off the area where the "stove pipe" runs up from the engine to the stock air cleaner. Pictures would be great. I like pictures!

That is what I am talking about but what Im getting at is I am going to get rid of all that stock stuff so I wont have the stock air intake setup, no more neck so there will be no where for the stove pipe to go, hence the reason I would need to block it off at the engine.

It doesnt go anywhere just to a heat shield on the manifold. It delivers warm air to the air filter on a cold morning helps with cold idle I believe. I had the pic saved from another post I did

Its a 77, oh I see it just gathers heat from the manifold? I guess I can just take it off then, i was under the assumption that it was connected at the engine side to something that would require me to block it off. I guess thats what the board is here for. Thanks for the assistance

No problem. The one on our 92 burban has been missing and I havent seen a difference so you will be ok with taking it off.

I wouldn't get too crazy doing that could very well be considered tampering with emissions since it's design could be intended for a quicker warm up or something else and Cali being the hard nosed emisions state we all know it is...

I got into this problem with aftermarket carburetors, which change the height/orientation of the air cleaner. I stick with the stock carburetor for that reason now. I never found a flex hose setup that would: stay attached, pass emissions, looked nice. I am not convinced that aftermarket carbonators or air cleaners make any difference on our old trucks (I now await flames

Carbs are all about the same, I just pick the one I like working on. I could make any of the 3 major brands do what I want them to do so I go for cheap... And for air cleaners, the Stock setup gives you MORE power and fuel economy as long as the Cold air tube is still attatched, since with an aftermarket air cleaner, its sucking in hot air freshly drawn through the radiator.

I have an aftermarket carb because it was cheaper than fixing the quadrajet, and i have an aftermarket air cleaner because mine didnt have the one with the cold air tube, and it does look better, its shiny.
