Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
got my Valve cover gaskets changed finally. changed my fluids except the antifreeze as I'm going to be changing out the radiator soon. I'm going to haul some grass clippings in 50 gallon barrels later today. I don't let the grass touch the truck.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Only thing truck related was that the truck I bought from Bigarmzz was delivered late last night . If I get it cleaned up , I will take a couple pics . Other than that just a bunch of running around , a starting college party for my niece, and as crazy as it sounds , helped my uncle load 140 square bales of hay on his trailer . I am turning 40 in Oct but found I can still throw a 60-70 pound bale of hay about 8 feet in the air .Thats about what it took to get it to the top row.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Decided to see why the dome light on my 79 C-20 would not work. Found orange and white wires melted together under the floor mat and then found bare wires touching together where the wire that runs along the weather stripping plugs into the wire that goes into the roof. Had to stop to work on a Ferd car my my daughter.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I had ordered new heads for my S-10 last Sunday, but un-ordered them Monday morning. LOL. A friend of mine owns the shop where I placed the order. He called me Monday morning and said he had a pair of cast iron heads, ported, big valves, with 75cc combustion chambers. (The old ones measured out at 64CC). Yes, the goal was to reduce my compression ratio so I could stop buying Cam2 ($7.00 a gallon) to mix with 93 octane. Success! Swapped out the heads yesterday and the truck runs awesome without a hint of detonation. It also runs cooler now that I can actually bump up the timing.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Took the 87 home for a night, ran like crap that evening, ran excellent the next morning. I think we have a timing issue from what I've read. At least I got to drive it again though.
Spent Saturday at my shop organizing my trucks parts room. Stuff was just piled in there, no shelves or cabinets... I finally have a bit of organization! Added bonus is a quiet room for myself, where I can hide and veg if I want.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I had to go take a screwing from an auto service center on my steering. Then I got to go hunt down the parts to finish the job the service center was supposed to do, and install them today. Replaced all 4 shocks with Monroe Sensa-Tracs (they any good?). Dumped the fresh water out of the cooling system and put in 50/50 mix. Filled the tank with gas. Somebody on here mentioned turning the pump nozzle upside down when filling up. I tried it, and it worked! Investigated whether or not I should have a fuel return line from the fuel pump to the fuel tank. It appears not. There is a fuel supply line and a vapor recovery line that goes to that filter canister thingy up on the driver side core support. After my additional repairs to the front end the truck actually drives well enough that I don't have to pull seat cover out of my butt after I drive it someplace. So other than dealing with getting screwed by the service center knuckleheads, it was a pretty productive weekend.

No pics yet, but i got my new rear window put in (swapped out the old slider for a nice solid window), put the rear bumper back on (just need a license plate bracket if anyones got one), and put on the '74 grille but i still need to drill holes and bolt on the end brackets tomorrow.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
Didn't need it. Josh wanted it. I wanted the coys. And the crewcab was just a roller at best. I really don't think I got the raw end of the deal. I really just wanted to concentrate on one truck also. Btw the coys with those tires are right around $2300 new without shipping and these have less than 1000 miles on them and you can definitely tell.

Re: What did you get done 8/30/10 edition
I had planned to spend quality time working on mt e3 install but work prevented that. I didn't get free till this evening so I spent the time I had finishing up the front system.
I built a tool from a piece of threaded rod so I could dial in the length. Once that was established I cut the rods and verified that everything worked as planned. Here's the test piece. For complete details look here- e3 LevelPro + Big Red x4 ≈ 77 Air Square
