Angry Wiring woes

So I just got my new Dakota digital dash for my 77 chevy. I was all excited and took it out to wire it up. So I go through the harness in the truck and start cutting wires off got all the major ones off the harness and then im left with a bunch of pink wires and a bunch of black wires, one pink and white, one tan and one tan and white. What are they Im assuming one is my fuel sender and one is my brake warning but which is which. On top of that I cant seem to get the damn dash to come on. Ive got power and a good ground and still nothing. I even tried to wire it direct to the battery and the ground and still it isnt showing that it has power (no blinking LED). Any help would be great fellas.

Re: Wiring woes

Thanks anyway, Im sure someone out there knows and will help me out. To be honest i am really thinking about just gutting under the dash and rewiring everything, Its funny when I got the truck it all looked good the guy that had it before me made it look real nice but as i dig into it I a finding out that the wiring must have been some mad scientists project over the years, lots of electrical tape and wire nuts!

Re: Wiring woes

I looked through the electrical section and the FAQs I just cant find the answer. I think that the pink are gonna be 12v and the black grounds and Im thinking the pink and while might be the fuel sending and the tan and white and tan might be for the brake warning. Does that sound at all correct?

Re: Wiring woes

I just went through this getting the wiring fixed on my 77 so that all the gauges would work. I think that the dark blue is the fuel sender and dark green is temperature. I will have to look at the schematic i got from classic parts when i get home to be sure.

Re: Wiring woes

I have everything figured out besides the pink with white stripe, tan and tan with white stripe, then there is like 3 or 4 solid pinks and some blacks.

Re: Wiring woes

this is for an early 80's i believe, but maybe it will help you out. maybe process of deduction of what you already have figured out and this will help you.

Re: Wiring woes

Thanks so much, thats so funny because I found that chart just before you posted it. It definitely helps I just need to figure out what this damn pink/white wire is for, Im hoping it is for the brake warn because that would complete my investigation.
