1970 GMC Custom (72,000 original miles)
New to this part of the board. I acquired a 70 GMC Custom about two weeks ago. I found it on Craigslist here in NC. The truck is from Virginia. I belive I am the third owner. The story goes like this, the truck was kept under a carport until 2008. The second owner relocated to NC. He had no place to keep it and the truck was starting to show some weathering. They decided to sell it. He bought a newer truck with AC. (Must have AC here in NC) It still has the original shocks and original General H78 spare tire on it. It has the original owners manual and I have posted pictures of the original option that were available for 1970.

A nice, clean truck. Looks like you are one lucky guy. I enjoyed the accessory pages you added, too.

Nice time piece! Original clean trucks with good original paint are the hardest to find. Continue to protect that truck from the elements! Very few people on this site have an original uncracked green steering wheel and dash.

Re: 1970 GMC Custom (72,000 original miles)
It has been repainted a chevy color, was originally a GMC metallic green. It is lighter than the original color. If you look at the interior pictures the dash and doors are the original color. The glove box is a darker shade green used as a accent color.

Re: 1970 GMC Custom (72,000 original miles)
The wheel has a couple small cracks in it. The dash pad is ok. The truck was repainted some time ago. It has a look good paint job from 20 feet, but it's doesn't look bad for 40 year truck.

Re: 1970 GMC Custom (72,000 original miles)
Thank you all for the complements. I couldn't be happier. It's a thrill to find a old truck in original condition. It is going to need a little TLC to get it in good running order. The master cylinder started to leak. It has the original hoses and heater hoses. I will replace the hoses, thermostat, water pump and complete tune up. It needs a few trim pieces replaced and allot of cleaning and detailing.

Re: 1970 GMC Custom (72,000 original miles)
Very nice survivor you got there! Good score!
Not high jacking your thread but I myself have the chance to buy a 1970 1 owner chevrolet lwb truck w/ 307 2barrel power brakes, power sterring, A/C hardly any rust, just alittle surface around cab corner. Not tailgate, has 14300 miles on it with a rebuild at 100.000 The guy wants 1.200.00 for it and want bugge off the price! I dont ahve the cash right now being out of work but dam I hope I can put something together and get it!
