Re: Engine swaps

Yes many on here have swapped in a 5.3 LS engine and add the 4L60 transmission with overdrive and they claim they are getting over 20 mpg. And that is with their tiny little US gallons, EH!

Here is a thread on an installation for you to read. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=244448'

There is even a special forum right here now for LS swaps..... http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/f...prune=30&f=206

Re: Engine swaps

This may be unconventional, but... forum member Cell has a Mercedes diesel powering his stepper. It's not obviously a Cummins or anything that'll pull a house down, but it will definitely provide good gas mileage.

Re: Engine swaps

alot of members have swapped in the older gm 6.2 and 6.5 diesel engines, make decent power not a whole lot but I hear guys are getting 20-25 mpg with them, and it's almost a bolt in swap.

Re: Engine swaps

Drop a 2.5L Pontiac Iron Duke in there. Bolts right up to the bellhousing. Motor mounts are another matter however.
