Wheel opinions needed

I know opinions will vary on this but which of these rims would rather have/see on an AD truck? A 3600 to be exact......

First are Boss 308's 20" rims

Second are 15X8 Chrome Smoothies that I would possibly find some whitewalls for.

Thanks!
Ben

Re: Wheel opinions needed

chrome smoothies is my vote , but im more into old school stuff . i like big wheels sometimes but unless you get them with specific back-spacing and your ride height is just right they tend to just look cheap

The no-sidewall tires for the 20s aren't cheap either. Go with the smoothies.

I don't like whitewalls on these trucks, personal opinion. But you could always buy the WW's next year.

x6 on the smoothies. I think artilleries would look sweet though. Gonna probably go with those for mine with yr correct hubcaps. Sell the 20's & use the money for some cool white walls

Re: Wheel opinions needed

I must be the only person around who hates wide whitewalls.

Low profile tires look nice on some vehicles, but aren't practical unless you have a prerunner to map out a route w/o bumps. Bottom a tire on the rima and you need a new tire and maybe a wheel. Maybe somebody can photoshop some on an AD truck?

I think the smoothies in a not too large diameter would look good.

Sorry for the opinions...

Smoothies with blackwalls. I'm not partial to the wide whites.

Re: Wheel opinions needed

I like the smoothies with black walls. Done the big rim thing and the ride sucks. Important question is what type of rig are you building? ole skool, ratrod, hot rod, pro touring, classic?

Re: Wheel opinions needed

3600 isn't 5 lug! But then again...our truck is a 3600 and not a 5 lug anymore either.

Whitewalls are fine. 55/6 Olds caps are cool, too.

Re: Wheel opinions needed

Tchia, Initially I'll be going for an old school look as I dont plan to do any restoration to the body or paint. Long term I want to do an old school/custom.

Dan, Love the look of Corts truck! I like the WWW look, wish I could find a set! The S10 frame and TA rear end should solve the 5 lug issue

Here's what my truck looks like now, I want it lower and it will be on the S10 frame.

Re: Wheel opinions needed

Looking good, Ben. Where in Anderson do you live? I used to be at 420 Simpson behind the Bi Lo...15 years ago! My buddy has a '69 Camaro out past the big church...can't think of the name of his road.

I found the WWW 2 places. the fronts came off the rear of a '53 Chevy parts car I had. They were new but the front hadn't been aligned and the P/S shreded them. The rears came from a guy on Craigslist who only washed the blue off and mounted them on some rollers for a 50 Shoebox project that didn't get finished. G78-15 front L78-15 rears. 3 match...

Are you leaving yours a longer box? I want to do that with an X cab frame but don't find the bed sides too often. I know of a 1 ton with the 9' box but that'd be overkill!

Re: Wheel opinions needed

Our 3600 started as a flat bed. I still have a frame and bed...maybe I should make one of those like Flipper's!
