Postitraction rare?
i have a 72 chevy with the g80 posi option and was wondering if it was rare or common.

I don't think it's that rare. We ordered all of our vehicles with the posi or locking diff.
You have just reminded me of something I've never shared here - We ordered our '69 GMC with the posi; what WAS rare is that the factory did not put any lube in the rear axle. Burned it up on the way home from the dealership. The rear axle locked up and spun us around. Fortunately, nothing (or nobody) else was damaged and after they replaced the rear axle assembly we went on for many miles of happy motoring. K

I had a '62 Chevy II 300 series 4-dr sedan, with a 4-cyl and a PG, that had a 4.11 Posi....all factory.
When we ordered an Astro for '88, I spec'ed it out with a 3.42 Posi. It's rare to find one, but that doesn't make 'em rare.

from my unscientific research i'd think about 25% had the posi rears//was a common option on farms from what i've seen
