New headers look good but hang pretty low

Just like it says they are cool but way low what do you guys think they're hooker super comps. I want to have the most performance but i don't want to drag my new expensive ass headers. Any suggestions?

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

I have the Hooker Super Comps long tubes on my '71 GMC, they hang below the frame rail a good 3-4". Eventually I want to put air ride in the truck so the headers will have to go.

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

here are 2 pics pretty damn low. what about the shorty style headers? It would be clean, but what is the difference on performance from a long tube full length header to the shorty?

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

pretty obvious those headers cant b used without major surgery to them// the only way to use without cutting piecing and welding is to switch left for right and run exhaust thru the top of the hood and over the cab

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

I tried that and they run right into the firewall! lol ride height should be 3-4" higher than that so I would have that much clearance???????? I'll see what the suspension guys run!

I think my dog is staring at your cat! lol

Yep... I have a 3" drop in back, and a 1 1/2" drop in front on my '72, with Hedman Hedders (full length)... They are just fine.

They don't hang near as low below the frame as those S/C's that were pictured.

I have Doug thorleys headers long tubes with a 4/6 drop and I still have at least 4-5 inches of clearance.

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

I would look into Hedmen Elite Series, they fit nice and high up with the frame...assuming you have a SBC in there....

The still look pretty nice despite being a bit low which is relative in relation to what your goal is. Best of luck!

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

just called summit and told them I was not happy with the quality of the header.( I really wasn't, for the money, pass side has lines in the tubes where they ran it through the bender and didn't polish out???)

so I looked at a set of dough thorley headers for 593.00 a lot better than 699. summit gave me a prepaid label and im sending them back tomorrow, then they will send me my new ones! heres a pic

Re: New headers look good but hang pretty low

Post some good comparison pics once you get them installed. A measurement of the difference in height would be good too .
