What headers to use with bags?

I know this isnt a suspension question but thought I would ask the suspension guys.

I have a 71 stock arms and bags with 3'' spindles and trailing arms with bags in the rear. I just bought some full length headers and they hang down 3-4"s bellow the frame rail. I have a sbc with maybe 450 hp. I want to have the most performance I can get out of my headers but I want to know what you guys with low trucks run. Here is a pic of the truck aired out looking at the headers. maybe 1/2'' of clearance?

any help is greatly appreciated!

Re: What headers to use with bags?

Doug Thorley makes some nice headers that don't hang below the frame. I'm not sure what the part number is though....

Re: What headers to use with bags?

i have the same prob my exhaust guy turned the pipe up from the headers above the tranny cross member then cut holes in the trailing arm crossmember when my truck is aired out it just barely sits on the header with all the weight on my tubular a-arms

the primaries are 1 1/2" and the collectors are 2 1/2" ... fairly small, but do fine on a stock to mild motor ... they also won't fit angle-plug heads.

Thanks. I'm trying to find some 1 3/4 or 1 7/8's with 3" collectors that I can put on my supecharged 68 truck. I have long tubes on it, but they hang way to low...

Try chevelle, camaro or nova long tubes, we used some 2 1/8 hooker's for a nova on a bbc in a 73, fit with minor trimming of the lower rail flange
