Centrifugal Superchargers

What’s up guys? I have a potentially stupid question that I think I already know the answer to. I have been looking for a supercharger or turbo for my 383 for about a year now. I found several Procharger and Vortech kits for sale for Mustangs, Camaros, S10s etc... my question is are the beackets and tubing the only difference in the kits? I guess what I want to know is, if I bought a used kit for a Camaro or an S10, could I buy or fabricate the brackets and tubing to fit my truck?

NO, it is not just the brackets. Some chargers are clocked, not talking about the back housing that can be rotated. It has to do with the way oil sits in the head unit. Also if it is a reverse rotation unit.

You would have to have it mounted on your engine the same way it was clocked for the original application.

Not to argue but.....

You kind of contradict yourself. You say its not just brackets but you say some need to be clocked. Well, what holds the housing? the bracket? Why do the Prosystem complete systems for the GM trucks 88-10 have the same P-1SC as the 03-10 mustangs? It is just a different mount and tubing. Just the mount bolts for the GM are different then the Ford ones and allow the Charger to sit the same way.

Call them and see what they say. If the blower leans to the right on the engine it was designed for you have to make it lean to the right on your new engine. Has to do with the way the oil lays in the blower. I was going to do this and this is what they told me, I sent mine back to them to have it reclocked for my application. I don't remember what my p1sc came off of but it wouldn't work for my carbed engine, they said it would not oil right and burn itself up, so I let them reclock it. Didn't cost much.

Seems to me that for the same head unit, it should be clocked the same for any engine you mounted it on. I'll have to do some research... not saying you're wrong. I'm just a natural critic.

Just trying to help somebody not tear their stuff up. Call the manufacturer of the supercharger and see what they say.

I have had about 8 prochargers from the 1rst p600b, d1,d2r,d3,f1r and f2.

Just give them a call and they can tell you if it needs to clocked. The self contained units have an oiler gear that sits on 1 side or the other depending on how they sit. I units that have engine oil that feeds them all you have to do is change the drain plug to the lowest spot.

OK... Im not sure I understand here. I had no problem clocking my F1R... just loosened the machine screws and pointed the discharge tube down so it points to the intercooler. (Procharger said that was just fine). Mind you, on this particular unit, clocking the discharge side does not clock the gear side, or the impellar.

I was talking about the gear side. Discharge you can point where ever.

No need to clock the gear side. Normally it sits in the correct position. Its a non issue. If yopu have an SBC just get the universal mount kit for a carb set up - Vortech and Procharger have kits available.
