Horn advice plz
HI GUYS
Im needing a little advice on what to do here as in I'm needing a horn. I would like an aftermarket horn. The buttons on the steering now does not work, and I'm wanting the easiest and quickest way to do this. A push button or toggle switch to connect the horn to, possibly up on the dash is this possible to do and if so how. Any suggestions and help is greatly appreciated!!! Jeff Main |

Re: Horn advice plz
I have a pair of cadillac horns on mine from the junkyard... if your lucky you can find an older caddy with 4 horns on it. they sound good.
In an old car I had, The sterring wheel button quit so I put a large push button on the floorboard, top right and you just push it with your foot. |

Re: Horn advice plz
The horn in my Jeep didn't work either so I wired up a push button (trunk release button from a 91 Nissan Maxima) and mounted it in the dash just right of the column. Being my Jeep is a standard my hand is usually on the shifter anyways, so it is actually closer to the new horn button than if the one on the steering wheel worked.

Re: Horn advice plz
Similar situation happened when I bought this C-30 but had to have a working horn to pass the safety lane required for 1-tons here in Illinois.
Turned out the the OEM horns were rusted out. Replaced with an aftermarket one mounted under the hood and recently got around to mounting the button on the floor. Cheap, accessible and it passed the safety lane. I like it. Mark

Re: Horn advice plz
The switch I use has a hot wire ....and a hot wire (or two ground wires depending on how you hook up the circuit). The switch just completes the circuit and since most momentary switches do not have lights there is no need for a ground.
