Help - Inline Fuel Filter - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Looking to tie in a big in-line fuel filter with the factory connections in between the hard piped line and the carb on top of the intake manifold.

It would have a female and a male end, and the factory steel line to bolt on one end after threading the other into the carb. The tiny factory spec filters are clogging up to fast. Would like to find a common filter that could be cheaply replaced until I can get the crud out of my gas tank. Any suggestions?

I'd imagine I could use connectors of some type and even tie in a metric filter, but I don't know enough about the threads/connection type to know what to ask for. Any easy solutions out there?

If you know what the thread size is on the inlet to the carb, why not visit a NAPA and tell them what you want to do and let them research their parts bins? I don't recall the specifics, but they will know or have a carb handy to use for a trial fit.

That's a good thought, I tried at an O'Reilly and didn't get anywhere. The poor kids in there barely could find the stock fuel filters. Napa is clear across town from me, but I'll try Autozone since they're on the way.

I think your going to find the same kid working at autozone. NAPA rocks, you can't place a value on a good counterman!

I'd replace the tank before I added another filter... or do both
