? about sadel gas tanks on 67/72 chevy thucks

has anyone seen these i am in the process of buying a 68 lwb 4wd 4 speed v8 but eng is gone. but it the tank behind the seat plus 2 sadeltanks 1 on each side behind cab under bed on both sides. i was woundering if anyone else knows anything about these and are they a gm add on. thanks for any help.

I think most of them were dealer add ons, although mine were installed by a PO, I only have on left though, and there's not a cab tank. I guess it's nice not having it in the cab but it gets in the way of a toolbox, which I would like to add.

mine are under the bed between frame and inner bed side on both sides. when i get it home i will try to post pic.s.

They are not GM factory items, but are either aftermarket or dealer add-ons. Mine are Travel Tanks, apparently a fairly common brand back in the day, and your description sounds like what I have. Also look for a three-way manual valve on the floor near the driver's door.

My truck had these same saddle tanks -- I don't know anything about them other than my grandad had them added to the truck. The filler necks were in the rear wheel wells, and there was a three-way switch by the driver seat.

Have them on two trucks one set is steel the other is fiberglass.
