Converting to NON-AC

Since I wont be running AC in my truck I want to know what all I need to make it a non AC cab. If I am not going to have AC I want to get rid of all of the AC stuff. Can someone tell me what all I will need.

Do you not like having the vents and such?

If everything under the hood is disconnected.. up to the evaporator... don't think you'd need to do much else...

If you wanted to completely change it up, you'd probably have to find a non a/c control head on the dash, and a different bezel that has the storage deal instead of the vent.... dash pad from a non a/c truck with no vents..

Take out the evaporator boot under the hood.... find you a non a/c heater set-up from another truck to cover up the hole......

I didn't realize non-ac trucks didn't have vents. Where they just defrost and floor heat?

as far as I know, the trucks that came from the factory.. non A/C, where floor heater and defrost..

I wonder if I can just get a non-ac fan blower housing for under the hood and just leave all the under dash stuff the same? I would just like to be able to clean all the ac stuff off my firewall if I am not going to use it anyway.

why not trim off the a/c part of the firewall box and plate over it with some roof tin or something or duct work box and make it be only about 2 inches thick out from the firewall or something? I seen it done somewhere before and looked good, better then the huge a/c box pokeing out.

You might be able to,... but then again, I think the actual distribution box under the dash might be different too, depending on A/C vs non A/C.

Thing is, If I'm not mistaken, the heater core hose lines might be place differently out through the firewall (not too sure) but that might be a lil different...

Wanted to bump this to see if there was any more info on this. I know some of you have went from non-ac to ac.

Will I need all new under dash components? How about wireing harness? Will mine work or will I need one for a non-ac cab?

I know I will have some new holes to make in my firwall and some old ones to fill in. I need a de-froster here or I would just shave it all and be done with it. I want heat though and I dont want all the ac stuff just sitting there under the hood.

Factory AC into non AC cab 1967 - 1972 tho might give you some ideas though good luck

I believe if you remove all of the underhood items plus the big A/C firewall section Poterbuilt has a weld in section that replaces it & cleans that area right up.

I think I saw it being done in a recent truck mag.

I don't want to completely shave everything as I still want heat. I just want to get rid of all the ac components. I want it to be like a truck that came from the factory without a/c.

I went from non-AC to AC in the spring. The box under the dash is different, kick panels, heat control on the dash, silver strip on front of dash, and the gauge cluster are all different. Also if you switch out the box under the dash your heater holes thru the dash will have to be cut out.
