Tubbing?
Does anyone sell the wheel well tubs or are they a custom mod usually? Looking at tubbing my 69 lwb....

Just take two original inner wheel wells and cut and splice them together, it almost looks as if it could have been factory.

If your'e doing a fleetside, the originals stretched, look good. This takes a donor set to make. Stepsides look better with aluminum or steel rounded IMO. Here's a pic of the ones in my stepside, we custom made out of polished 16gu. stainless, "not cheap".

check my build....what I did was cut about an inch from the bed wall this leaves your flange that bolts on I cut it out to the 3rd flat spot on the floor then flattened out the floor where the wheel well will lay on the floor place the tub down and cut a piece wide enough to go from the bed wall to 1" over the tub make the bends for the tabs on the floor then start at one end and work it over the tub spot welding as you go till its done. This only leaves the 1 seam ...a little seam sealer and some paint and your done...you could butt weld them if you wanted but the seam is straight so it looks clean..be sure to do the inside of the tub too!!

Really the toughest part will be taking the last raised part of the bed floor and cutting/forming it to look like the other 2. My build thread shows how I did mine and it looks pretty darn factory. |

Thanks everyone! I think the donor wheel wells is the way I will go as I have access to a donor truck!! Can you also give me an idea of what else I'm going to have to do to run a 31x 18 x15 tire? My truck has coils in the rear? A narrowed 9"? Eaton? Detroit? What all has to be relocated?

i used a stock rear with 15x14 rims w/ 10bs... fit perfect w/ 31 x 18.5 x 15 tires...
  no longer have truck but i do miss it.....
