bigarmzz,
Just a thought. Why not go 2004r? Same length as TH350 so no drive shaft mods.

2004r bolt up the same also or have to drill new holes in cross member? Whats the pro and cons. I see a lot of members going 700r4 when they go for od trans.

I've found a bunch of rebuilt 700r4s for around 350 with a warranty here in DFW when I was shopping last week.

I have one that I had built to hold 400+ HP a few years back and never ended up using it. I will take $300 dollars for it.

Re: anyone got a nice 700r4 they'd sell?

I have another good 700r4 ,it is in my 90 454 ss at this time..with a blown 350..I bought the 454ss for 900..pics are in the 88-98 project and build section..I will start on it soon.

$150 same deal as the other one..

I also have a 4L80E trans with 96,ooo miles on it..for $450 you can run this electronic trans if you get the trans computer and harness out of a 6.5 diesel truck.. The 4L80E is a TH400 with overdrive and is heavy duty.

Just put you a 5speed out of a newer camaro in it and be done..

Re: anyone got a nice 700r4 they'd sell?

Not trying to muddy up your thread...I went with a 2004r in my 70 Chevelle. They can be made to handle lots of power. The earlier ones had some issues but even stock ones hold up to reasonable power. In the Chevelle it was a direct bolt in. I don't know about Camaraos but the Chevelle frame had two sets of bolt holes that the trans crossmember could use. One set was for th350 and the other for the th400. I had to use the second set of bolt holes. Driveline fit without mods. First gear is lower in the 200, o.d. ratio is very similar. I'm running 3.73's and couldn't be happier with it.
