body panel adhesive opinions
The PO replaced the outer rockers and cab corners on my 68 about 4 years ago. He used body panel adhesive instead of welding them in. I inspect the seams occasionally, and it seems to be holding up pretty well. I have not found any cracks or separations. I plan on repainting the truck in the next year or two, depending on time and money. While I have it stripped, should I go ahead and weld it or do you think it will stand the test of time?

"Done properly" the adhesives that are designed for body panel bonding are just as strong as welding. The real issue is "done properly". The correct fit, contact area, cleanliness, clamping, are all very important. That being said, I don't think any of the companies that make the stuff recommend it's use on structural parts.

i used 3m panel bonding adhesive on my new roofskin and i have to say i'd do it again it was well worth it imho. the 3m is expensive though. i just did"nt want weld shrinkage. got pics on my build page. good luck phipp13
