How to proberly Cut a Chassie to shorten/Lengthen

I have gotten a new idea for my Heavy Hauler Project. Im going to make it a car hauler just like fine69s truck. I know these where customs made trucks back in the day, going to make my own bed so i get how i want it.
thinking of extend the chassie behind the cab like 2 foot so i have a 10 foots bed.

the only real problem is its illeagle to do this kind of mod to the chassie really but what they dont know they dont complain about

so i would like to see pics of how its done proberly and it would have the same strength as the original chassie has

we are talking about a 1986 C30 Crew Cab dually
its an old Western hauler truck

going to remove the rear seating and put a wall behind the front seats and make the rear a complete work shop with every kind of Auto tool you could need at a race track or side of the road.

This is what i have in mind just a quick rendering not done yet

Re: How to proberly Cut a Chassie to shorten/Lengthen

Personally I don't think that 10 feet total deck in the rear is going to be nearly enough to put a compact car on let alone anything else. I may be wrong though. I like your thinking on this though and I like your rendering. I may be totally wrong about the length not being enough. Just doesn't seem like enough to me. Also I am interested in what everyone has to say about this also. I have seriously contemplated buying a crewcab body and stretching the frame on my blue and white truck to make it a crewcab shortie.

Most of the ones around here have 17-20 foot beds. A link to my favorite manufacturer:

I think I'd try to find an old U-Haul truck or something like that, maybe even a school bus, take the frame from that, modify it to suit your design, and put your four door cab on that. But I certainly realize resources are not as plentiful in Denmark as they are here... tell you what, send me a couple Danish girls and I'll send you a chassis.

Re: How to proberly Cut a Chassie to shorten/Lengthen

As far as I am concerned there is only one way to properly cut a frame and splice it back together. Take a look at this article written by Glock in the FAQ forum "How to shorten a LWB frame"

Obviously you are not trying to shorten your frame, but the same theory for splicing it applies. I would locate a donor frame if possible for the section that needs to be added in. If that not long enough, have a C-channel fabbed and add plenty of crossmembers along the length.

Thanks Guys

yeah 10 foot would be to small but you get the idea.

The parts guy i use for crew cab parts has a chassie for crew so i can cut a section out there

I was gonna buy a car hauler like that (cept regular cab) when my Daully found me, still may buy one of them though. I'd like to be able to haul two cars to the track .
