Horn button? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

The last thing I need to fix before my truck can get inspected and on the road is my horn. My problem is I have a aftermarket steering wheel but no horn button and I'm not even sure if I have all the other parts. Here is what I have. I know I need a new turn signal cam because the one I have is missing the horn contact, but what else do I need and where can I get it? Thanks!

what i would do is just get a factory steeringwheel cheap and fix that as soon as it works then getit tested and be done then you can do what you want

If you take a screwdriver an make contact between the steering shaft and the spring loaded button that is sitting between 1 and 2 o'clock does the horn honk? That should be the contact that the brass ring on the Canceling cam in the bottom photo rides on.

Does the canceling cam have the little tube on the other side that the wire and contact that connects to the horn button on it? That should slip up though the hole in the adapter and then the end of the connector wire should go down in that and lock with a quarter turn.

Thanks for the replies guys! I think I figured it out though.

67chevy, I'm not against a stock wheel in the least. Just had this here so trying to use it. I would just hook the horn to a different switch, but my reverse lights are already on a toggle switch because I broke the column switch and Classic parts sent the wrong replacement.

mr48chev, Yes the horn works when you jump the contact to ground and When I order the horn button I'll order the cam as well.

Anyway here is what I figured out.

It looks like I have this wheel

So I should be able to use this horn button.

well i hope everything works out good and that horn cap doesnt look that bad
