Blocking unused firewall holes?

Hindsight is 20/20..when I had my cab painted I should have blocked all the dang holes in the firewall. Now I'm trying to figure out what's the best way to cover them up without looking crappy when I pop the hood. Perhaps stoppers or solid grommets? I've looked and can't find any.

Re: Blocking unused firewall holes?

I ran into the same problem with some also. I put rivnuts in the 3/8ths floor insulation holes, then put 1/4x20 stainless screws in them. I still have a few others that will have to be addressed at a later date. Good luck, and be creative.

Wow what a timely question. My cab is on the ground and I am getting it ready for paint, looks like you patched the heater/AC holes that is what I was planning on, what other holes are you looking to patch. The emergency brake cable hole, throttle cable hole, wiring harness square hole? maybe I am missing something are you planning on using different style throttle etc? Appreciate any ideas you could give me.

Smooth the head on a carriage bolt and paint to match. Adding anything thats another color will draw attention to it.

Re: Blocking unused firewall holes?

I ran into a site the other day that had a universal firewall grommet and plug set, being sold for the C10.. that looked like it had everything, cheap.. but now I can't find it.

I guess you could start measuring holes and search by size:

Re: Blocking unused firewall holes?

the other common hole to plug (that I forgot to do) was the clutch pedal hole when converting to automatic. But it's a nice breeze on the feet.

If I had been thinking I would have sealed up the entire firewall, fusebox included. I then would have built a custom fuse panel under the dash and hid all the wiring. Oh well, a project for next year
