static drop pics and help please
Having trouble finding pics and specs. So links, pics or any help would be appreciated. Ok, here is my ideal set up. 70 c10 with the 73+ front crossmember. 5/7 static drop with 3" belltech spindles and 2" drop spring. Rear with c-notch and would be 5" spring with 2" block. I'd like 17/18 coy's staggered. Any preference on backspacing and tire size? Would like the wheels to tuck wheel wells or at least come close. Am i going to run into turning or alignment issue? How is handling and ride quality? Thanks for the help everyone.

-You don't need the 73+ x-mbr...just swap the bjs in your control arms for 73+ bjs and get the 3" drop spindles/springs for the front end 5" drop. -You got it right for the 7" drop in the rear. -Tire size is a matter of your preference...pick what you like best -Backspacing could be different on each ride, so it's best to measure to see what fits (after you drop it) -Turning shouldn't be a problem with 17/18's unless you get a really big tires -Get an alignment when done (with new tie rods most will say) -I have a 4/6 on my blazer...it rides decent

Re: static drop pics and help please
if you are going that low, why not bag it? it will help when you need more clearance.

Re: static drop pics and help please
Well it's been awhile and still no pics. Thanks for the input everyone that has post. I really considered baggin it but for now I want to do a static drop primarly due to budget and I just want to drive it. Don't have an extra 2000 laying around for my ideal bag set up. Well I ended up getting the 77 crossmember disassembled and hopefully send the frame in for sandblasting soon! Thanks again, pics would be great.

Re: static drop pics and help please
Not sure if this helps:
7in drop in the rear with a c-notch, 5 in coil and 2 in block 3 1/2 in the front, 2 1/2 spindle and 1 in coil. The rear tucks a bit and the front fender meets the tire in the front. I would like the front an inch lower, but this way I am able to drive it with no issues. It is my daily driver, so i have to keep it this way. |

Re: static drop pics and help please
Nice ride tony and thanks for the picture. Nice stance, would there be rubbing issues you think with an additional inch in front?

Re: static drop pics and help please
Thanks for the compliments,
ozman, I think you should be ok going down another inch with 18s, as for me it might rub since i have 20s up front. I would love to try it, but don't want to risk it since its my driver. |

Re: static drop pics and help please
Nice lookin stance to chuck. You running 15 in wheels on that. Awesome color choice to man.
Hey tony, I might have to consider 20's (coys c5's?) after seeing your ride. What backspace did you go with on front and rear. Also tire specs would be great to. Appreciate the help that's coming through guys! Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: static drop pics and help please
I have 15 x 10's on the rear with 5" BS and 295/50-15 tires and the tuck pretty well. If you go with a narrower tire you should have plenty of room.

Re: static drop pics and help please
My 71 static drop with 2" springs up front 4" springs out back. I have air lift air bags in all 4 of them for a better ride.

Re: static drop pics and help please
I put in Air-Lift bags in rear many years ago. Now 1 needs replacing and Air-Lift is no help. Do you happen to have part number for rear bags? I probably need to mention, this is stock height, bags were to support load.
THANX

Re: static drop pics and help please
Thanks again, info has gotten me closer but I need to measure to be sure. Airlift wanted exact measurements from me. I was afraid w/o removing bad bag & spring, measuring used bag w/grooves from spring, I would end up w/the wrong bag. This leads me to measurements of available bags to find the right ones. I thought w/the popularity of these trucks and air lifts involvement in converting to air suspensions, that they might have revived their old applications list. I bought mine over 20 years ago by application. I will admit to being old and getting somewhat lazier.lol
