Wiring an electric fuel pump????
Can anyone show/tell me how to electrically hook up an electric fuel pump? A wiring diagram would be sweet.
I got a Holley "Red" pump and was wondering if this is good enough or should I get a "Blue" fuel pump? What are the advantages/disadvantages of the two? Thanks HotRod

Ground it to the frame where ever you mount it, and run a 12-14 gauge wire to a keyed power source at the fuse block with the properly rated fuse inline, and that's it. Easy as pie. Just don't forget the pressure regulator.

my new 72 - Thanks. Holley says that you dont need a regulator for their "Red" fuel pumps but the "Blue" ones do and they come with one. Any ideas? Anyone?

A red pump will cope well with any street use. I run one on a 13 second truck with no problems.
I source the electric through a low oil pressure switch so that if the engine stops so does the fuel pump. These are available at Summit or other race shops. It looks like a normal oil pressure sender but with three terminals. It includes wiring instructions. As I have a rear mounted battery I am considering using a relay, at the moment it takes the full load from the pressure switch. Pressure regulator is not necessary with a red top. If you did have fuel supply problems with this pump try increasing the fuel line size. Think volume and not pressure.
