It runs again

Only this time, with the 418ci motor I thought more cubes were suposed to tame cam shafts down Well, it's not the same exact cam, but not that much bigger

Old 243/250
New 245/260

Oh wait, the valve events are way different

Re: It runs again

It'll be driveable with about 1 hours work. It moves on it's own power, just no front end on it.

Re: It runs again

Wow!, you beat me dude... Fired the 66 up last night, have to bleed brakes (re-did the whole brake system), wire the transbrake and throttle stop, run the valves and she is ready for a cruise around town. Oh,, and give it a bath. Been since FEBRUARY since I started this stupid project of a little 'motor swap'. (LOL)

Accumulated a few 'shop bruises' and a TON of dust, dirt, and sweaty hand prints along the way, but OMG does it sound wicked! Will have to see if the wife's digital cam-corder has a net friendly output format.

Re: It runs again

Marv,

If it doesn't you can down size the video through Windows Movie Maker (That's what I did).

I need to install the manual valve body and transbrake. When I do that, I'll also have to rewire the lock up. But, I will be taking it for a ride before any of that

Re: It runs again

DOH,,, oil leak at the back of the intake. This sucks!!!
I moved the motor back into the firewall as much as I could without hacking the firewall so everything is EXTREMELY tough to get to back there,, really biting me in the arse!!!!!

Oh well,,,, if it were easy..............................

It gave me a chance to tidy up all the wiring and start cleaning the filthy pig.

Re: It runs again

Marv, that does suck, but hey, what's another night or two working on the truck right??? When I originally put the motor in, we set it back as far as we could but didn't have the coil packs on the vavle covers. They barely fit on the truck. Then when I did the motor plate and intake swap, I raised the motor and that made matters even tighter. Good thing I raised it though, with the super vic intake and N20 plate, the air cleaner barely sits above that little lip on the cowl. It's like it was planed the whole time.

Please excuse my ignorance here. Who makes a manual VB for the 4l80e and how do you retain the lock-up mode? Just curious, as hopefully, one of these days, I'll be going with a similar setup in mine.
Thanks!!
