Turbo 350 Tailshaft question

Not sure is anyone out there is able to help me, My truck is an 85 Chevy 1/2 ton 2wd/305/Turbo 350 with a one piece driveshaft. I need to replace the trans and not sure what my tailshaft length is and the problem is my truck is 3 hours away and I am trying to find a trans locally before I go back to the truck again. I know the trans could have one of three tailshafts on it just wondering if anyone out there has the same set up in their truck and could measure their tailshaft for me.

Thanks
Gregg

Re: Turbo 350 Tailshaft question

I sold the TH350 from my truck and it also had a 9 inch tailshaft. The guy buying the truck wanted me to measure to make sure the tailshaft was 9 inches which is what he said is for trucks only. I can't confirm that info but that's what I was told.

Re: Turbo 350 Tailshaft question

being an 85 if it does have a th350 it's probably a th350c which is lockup but regardless it's probably a 9 inch. Dad's 84 had a 1 piece DS and was 9 inch and short bed, he put in a short tail 6 inch th350 and got a 1 piece ds from a junkyard.
