Help!!!!
Ok, I'm 73-87 stupid. My glove box door on my 87 suburban has broken plastic, so the box door just opens up all the way, dumping everything in it. I was able to pick up a whole door from the bone yard. Now the question....... How do you remove the the latch mechanism? I really don't wanna put a blue door on my white burb. I just wanna swap the plastic. Please give me a hand. Thanks.

It has been a while since I have taken one apart, but if I remember correctly, there is a pinhole that you need to put a jim clip in to release the outside "button". Once that is off there is a nut holding it on.

I've done a few also and ther is no easy way to describe how to do it . it is MAGIC. i re-learn every time I do it . there is a little slot on the inside part and there is a little tab in there that has something to do with it ALSO . Prying will break it . THAT I CAN SAY FOR SURE! BEEN THERE. DAVE

Once you get it in the hole, there is a slot that you have to push on to release the cap. Like crossy said, you are just going to have to "feel" it off. DON'T pry it.

OK...I went out to my truck and got my service manual. Doesn't have anything in there about taking the glove box lock off. Like the rest of these guys, I've done it before. I just went out and got my glove box door, it was laying on the back seat...and spent 10 minutes trying to get the lock off without success. I need to get to work now...I'll try this again tonite when I get home if you don't have it figured out by then. Don't pry it off! It will come off easily once the stars and moon and Jupiter is in their correct alignments.
Later Mike
