tie rod ends,72 ?

72, 1/2, short, fleet, with power steering. 1.25 rotors. i installed ccp 2.5 drop spindles everything hooked right up no problems. i thought i would install new tie rod end and sleeves before i got the truck aligned. i ordered everything for a 72. well, the 72 stuff is too big for the drag link and the spindle. today i ordered everything for a 70 to see if it fits. any insight?

Re: tie rod ends,72 ?

I had the same problem on my 71 with stock height (stock spindles). I tried two different brands of tie rods (Mevotech and Auto Extra) and neither of them fit because they were both too big for the spindles. I ended up getting the more expensive 71' moog tie rods and they fit perfectly. Worked for me, maybe trying a different brand could help?

Re: tie rod ends,72 ?

Some of CCPs drop spindles use 73-87 tie rod ends at the spindle. Also 73-87 upper ball joints & stock lower ball joints.

Re: tie rod ends,72 ?

This is normal. The factory disc brake spindles take larger tie rod ends than the drum spindles. The common fixes are to either use the 71-up center link or buy a dual-size adjusting sleeve from vendors like CPP or Performance Online.
