Spindle ID

I'm working on a 72 C-10 that is a work of art thanks to the previous owner. The truck has front disc brakes but does not have power brakes. I also noticed that the front crossmember has new bolts so I'm begining to think that at some point the front crossmember was updated to a newer 73-87 crossmember with disc brakes. I'm ready to order drop spindles and I'm wondering what year to order for. Is there any way I can ID what year spindles I have?

Re: Spindle ID

A 72 should have had disc brakes as stock, so the discs aren't positive proof of a crossmember swap. Also, discs were available without a booster. Probably the easiest thing to check is the control arm bushings. If they are all metal with grease fittings they are 72 or older. 73-up has rubber bushings with metal sleeves and no grease fittings.
