Phoenix Transmissions
Has anybody had any encounters with this company. Their transmissions seem to be somewhat purpose built. I am looking for a quality 4X4 TH350 for my K10. I looked into Monster and im not too impressed with their models. And TCI seems a bit pricey and no TC included. After searching I could only find 2 reviews for this company. Due to the fact that the search kept giving me reviews for tranny shops in Phoenix, AZ.
My TH350 has had a bit of a catastrophic failure where i had fluid all over and seals were all blown out, and the fluid looked like crap. Im not too mechanically apt to try and tackle a rebuild without a expert near me, and I also do not have the special tools required for a AT rebuild i'm sure that the tools could be fabbed up on the spot but unless someone in or near Des Moines, IA can help me I will be purchasing a new Rebuilt Tranny from a reputable company, problem is who should I go with and why. Thanks in advance for any input on this subject as this is my DD. |

2 thoughts = Phoenix is very popular with the street rod crowd - they seem to make a great product and I have not seen any issues with their products. 2 yr 24,000 mile war Performance automatics also has a great reputation - and offers a lifetime warr when you buy the street smart package with a converter They both dyno the trans before they ship them to give you a piece of mind

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
ok remember this: REAL 4x4 trans cases are different than car trans. they use a cast dust cover w/ larger attaching bolts & the cover holds two reinforcing rods to the engine mounts. if the vendor is offering a real 4x4 trans then it will cost more. if you have the original 4x4 trans you may be better off getting it refurbished. t350s ain't rocket science. hope this helps!

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
Unless I didnt look that in depth I didnt see a 4X4 Tranny in their catalog. I need a 4X4 tranny to mate up with a NP203. Thank you Big Block for your consideration.

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
Well Andy first of all my truck is stock and my dust cover seems to be pretty thin as if it was made of "STAMPED STEEL". And maybe a TH350 Isn't "Rocket Science" I don't have the time, or the Tools, or the Facility to perform such a operation. For the record I'm not looking for a reason to rebuild a TH350, I'm looking for a place that will give me a quality tranny for a reasonable price that will last the test of time.

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
i understand bro- i have been there too. wasn't trying to mind your business, just didn't want to see you buy less than you needed. However, finances dictate what we all do & having said that i have a "car" trans case in our '88 blazer cause that's all i could find at the time i needed one. i took out a real 4x4 700r4 & replaced it with the t350. let us know how it comes out!

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
We bought a th350c have not installed it yet but just from reading their tech articles on their sight shows that they are pretty thorough in their process.Just the extensive work put into their converters played a good part in our decision to buy from them.Their tech support and customer service we found to be excellent and they were just up the road from us here in Texas so we just had them build it and we drove up and picked it up.Oh,we paid $1150 w/converter included out the door no core charge.I thought that was a pretty fair price.Hope this helps!!Good Luck!!!

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
They are pretty close to me, if that would help you any. I go toward Weatherford every other weekend or so. I have spoke to them on the phone and they were most helpful, I was trying to do the TV adjustments on my dad's 700 and they helped without hesitating.

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
I have a monster trans in my 4x4 burb. They shipped my trans with the lockup harness for a computer controlled set up. My truck had one from the factory but no longer does so they had to send me the right lockup kit. But other then that it has ben great. Would buy from them again. My 700R4 is rated for 500 hp too. With 3 year warrenty for free.

Re: Phoenix Transmissions
I bought a 350SS from them about 4 yrs ago for my 32. When I ordered they spent a lot of time getting all the details of my car to make sure everything would be right. It arrived crated and boxed with detailed instructions. Has worked great from day 1. Wouldn't hesitate to buy from them again. Great trans!
