Instrument Panel Lights

I know this should probably be in the electrical forum, but I wanted to focus my audience to the 55-59 crowd.

Anybody know what size fuse goes into the fuse holder on the headlight switch? Just rewired entire truck and the only thing not working is my panel lighting (orginal type wiring harness). Checked the fuse and it's blown. Only had a 3 amp one available, so I put it in and it blew right away, so obviously i need a larger amperage. I rather not try the shotgun approach. I've looked at all the schematics and the repair manuals and could find no reference to amp size?? Again, this is the fuse in the stock type headlight switch, its not the typical size glass buss fuse, it's only about 1/2 in long. Thanks.
