69 c-10 swb
I was gonna do this 6 or 7 months ago, I cant find some of the pics I had, I bought this 69 c-10 swb from the original owner, it had very little rust ( small amount in the rockers) original paint, did not run (307 v-8; 3-speed on the column) I tore the truck completely apart to the bare frame, had the frame blasted, and painted.
had all body parts dry stripped, I primed all parts with dupont self etching primer and the fun started. These are the pics of the bed, fenders, doors, hood back from the dry stripper. notice- no rust anywhere on the bed, doors, fenders (except lower right fender from the battery) |

Re: 69 c-10 swb
The cab was done before the rest of the body parts, It also was dry stripped and primed with dupont self etching primer. I have lost the pics of the cab, The cab inside of the cab was sanded and the original heater control hole was filled in, along with the firewall (for vintage air), then was primed, sanded, and painted g.m butternut yellow

Re: 69 c-10 swb
The frame was fitted with all new bushings, tie rods, ball joints, converted to 5-lug,cpp drop spindles, and springs, baer rotors, cpp shock re locator, cpp shocks, complete new stainless brake line kit from inline tube, I used a 72 rear end, had it completely rebuilt, new eaton posi unit, new axles, bearings, seals, drums, brakes, etc.
The rear suspension is cpp dropped springs and blocks, cpp shock re-locator, cpp shocks, cpp adjustable panhard bar and I c-nothched the frame. Last edited by gearys 5600; 09-28-2010 at 10:38 PM. |

Nice!!! I love the 1969 SWB and I will stop at nothing until I buy one and rebuild it. I want to do basically what you are doing and build it from frame up. Keep us posted on this project. She looks like she's gonna be a beaut!

Re: 69 c-10 swb
The engine and trans is a chevy t.b.i 350 with a 700 r trans, a frame mounted electric fuel pump, and all new wiring was used, I mounted the ecm under the dash.

Re: 69 c-10 swb
I fitted the fenders, doors, bed and hood to the truck for proper alignment, then the body work began.

Re: 69 c-10 swb
After too many hours to mention, the truck was ready for primer, it was primed three times with spies hecker poly primer, with blocking in between each prime, This took a couple of months (working on it in my spare time).

Re: 69 c-10 swb
The dash has all the vintage heat/air installed, gauges, tilt column, dash pad, wiring, alpine head unit, glove box firewall insulation,etc..The majority of the new parts on this build are from KENNYS TRUCKS in oklahoma.

Re: 69 c-10 swb
The way the truck sits at this time: needing one final prime and sand, take off the doors, fenders, bed, then I can finally paint it.
