Awesome news!!
Found a salvage yard here local to me and discovered he has a huge selection of ex-police cruisers. Did you know the early to mid 80's Chevy Caprice cruisers had really nice bucket seats in them? Well the guy there is cop friendly of course and said I could have a pair of the bucket seats. I found a set that are near perfect condition and will be picking them up Saturday morning. I will post pics when I get them home. Also, the engines had a serpentine setup on them with the alternator on the driver's side. I'm getting one of them for free too! I LOVE FREE!!!!! I was excited and had to share but I will post pics later.

Re: Awesome news!!
The term "Police Interceptor" was only used on Ford models and not eh Chevy's so its wouldnt have a 5x5 on an Interceptor... maybe you should know what your talking about before you go and give advice...

Re: Awesome news!!
You know, that wasn't needed. I'm reasonably certain Shane was just trying to let him know there's a possibility of a 5x5 rear disc setup on a police cruiser. Or perhaps he should have said a 9C1 police package caprice could potentially have a 5x5 rear disc setup, would that have been more in line with what you were looking for?

Re: Awesome news!!
I believe that's what Shane intended to say, raycow. I just don't think he phrased it as 1loc10 would have liked it to have been phrased.

Re: Awesome news!!
I will definately check the rear ends for disk brakes. I didn't even think about that! And since my truck is a GMC and has leaf springs I don't have to worry about the track bar mount. But do you guys really think a mid 80's car would have rear disks? I'm only asking because I have no idea.

Re: Awesome news!!
And I forgot to add to the original post, I went on a followup today regarding a stolen tow behind barbeque grill. I walked into this guys back yard (with him of course) and there is a 69 shortbed with a straight 6 and 3 on the tree. This thing is as plain jane as I've ever seen. the body is in decent shape and the guy said it ran but it's been sitting a while so it would need some work to the fuel system. He wants to sell it so I'm gonna beg momma for the money. I know without pics it didn't happen but believe me it did. It was a VERY good truck day!!

Re: Awesome news!!
Yes thos 80's cars will have rear discs just like those 60's Corvettes did. I picked up the rear calipers for my project from a '79 Cadillac.

Re: Awesome news!!
I always thought the rears had drum brakes, were 5 on 5 and most were posi. If I remember correctly the code for a posi was G80 on the trunk sticker. If I was closer, I'd be all over them...need a posi for my 87, 2-door.

Re: Awesome news!!
I think I read somewhere that those cars had the 2004r auto overdrives also. If so the later models 86 and newer were the best ones. They might have electric fans for the radiators that would work too. It's a gold mine of parts for our trucks. You're a lucky guy.
