WARNING! NOT FOR THOSE WITH A WEAK STOMACH! Got cut by a cut off wheel tonight.

I've been working on installing my C notch as time after work allows. Tonight I was cutting one of the rivits on the bottom of the frame in front of the notch and the grinder caught, spun around and bit me. I'm a electrician and make money with my hands. Fortunately I'll be able to work in the office until it gets better. Just a reminder to be careful with any power tool...lesson learned.

I was, my hands were dirty from work, not playing with the 68. Thing is now I can't find the glove I was wearing.

Don't forget to say thank you to an angel. You had one on your side this time.

Keep it clean! That could have gone way wrong.

All feeling and mobility are there as well. All I need is time to heal up and I'll have a nasty scar to remind me to be more careful.

Re: WARNING! NOT FOR THOSE WITH A WEAK STOMACH! Got cut by a cut off wheel tonight.

The wheel frayed when it caught making the cut worse. Here is the new drop before the notch and where the 68 will be parked until I can get back to it. Scoti, it must be something about Dallas, only the cool guys here get cut by grinders!

Re: WARNING! NOT FOR THOSE WITH A WEAK STOMACH! Got cut by a cut off wheel tonight.

Yikes! I ground myself a bit with a flap disk but nothing like those pics.

I have a BIG old B&D electric die grinder that I use with cutoff wheels that scares me wondering about what happens if a wheel grenades at 18kRPM. It cuts really fast though...

You definately lucked out. As much as your current wound sucks it could have been a lot worse. You will be good to go in a couple weeks.

Ouch!!! Glad you didn't get hurt any worse! I've had a couple of close calls with cut off wheels grabbing and the grinder getting a mind of it's own and lunging. Thank God I haven't gotten bit like that though.

Yup, I'm a backwards lefty. I was about to ask that same thing. I couldn't find my air hammer so I have a buddy that's going to lend me his once the hand can stand the vibrations and I get my grip back. They are the Centerline Smoothies, 20x8.5 if I remember right on 245/45/20 Kuhmo's. I guess I'll have to get one of those fancy new grinders for us lefties!

Ouch! Battle wounds indeed! Good it wasn't worse. If nothing else incidents like this teach us to respect our power tools.

I am a career Machinist & have seen my bones more times than I care to remember. Once I had a high speed grinding stone blow up on me. A chunk laid the side of my arm wide open as it whizzed by @ ultra-sonic speeds. Not much blood but it looked like a big hunk of cauliflower hanging out of my arm.

Re: WARNING! NOT FOR THOSE WITH A WEAK STOMACH! Got cut by a cut off wheel tonight.

My wife works in a hospital er and sees this all the time with 4" grinders with the guard removed or not. a lot of facial /nose lacerations! The tools are so small and easy to use with just one hand. I try to always use both hands to hold the tool. be safe & have fun. cheers, Pat P.S. glad that the cut wasn't worse .

Good thing you did'nt go to ER. Cut my hand with a utility knife last year, cost 4500. Kinda looked like that but cleaner and with some meat hanging out. Thought about just going home and sewing it up. Wish I would have. Next time I'll be smarter and richer.
