06 blower problem

hey guys, heres a weird one for ya, my blower will sometimes kick onto the full blast setting on its own, ill turn it to the off position, but it doesnt do anything, has a mind of its own, is it the switch? any other ideas

they are bad about doing that i bleive it is the blower resistor that causes it you replace the whole harness which only gm sells

If it is the resistor or reostat it can be replaced by it self. it is in the duct work under the glove box area. you will need to remove the cover under the dash to see it. You can remove it and see if it has a burnt look . If I remember right it takes a 5.5 mm socket.
IT may also be the switch going bad.

well, i would imagine its the switch, just because when i turned it to off it didnt turn off, right?

It very well could be the switch , I was suggesting checking the rheostat because it is easier to get to and would eliminate it as a possibility. when they usually go out you lose a blower speed or two. but if it shorted it might be possible to cause the blower to do odd things.
