1980 Stepside chop top/shaved

I had a request from bigblock73 to post some pics of my 1980 stepside that I had the top chopped 4" and shaved mirrors, markers, and door handles. I found some pics but do not have a build thread or pics of the chop process. It is just in a ugly blue primer which I am considering changing if I come up with the time.
I have to have it painted so I can have someone cut the glass and then have to find someone relatively close to cut glass but not to that point yet.

Kyle

A lot of work left but enjoy messing with it when I have time. It has a 400 small block at this time.

im not usually a fan of chopped trucks but yours is cool looking ... the blue primer almost loks like the stock light blue faded.. what kind of paint scheme are you going to do to it?

Re: 1980 Stepside chop top/shaved

I am thinking of a two-tone like a midnight blue and silver with some type of subtle flame or design to break up the two colors. But I have a few spots that need body work and the drivers rocker needs replaced but other than that the body is in good shape.

Thanks for the compliments.

Neat truck Kyle, thanks for posting some more pics of it. How does the inside look?

I had went to NAPA and had them tent the primer that color. I thought I had chose a darker color but after it was mixed it turned out a light color but I had spent the money so decided I might as well spray it and I think it turned out okay.

I have had a couple of people tell me to paint first and one of them is someone I had found that would cut the glass for me. The reason I was given was that after the glass is cut and placed in the truck you will be taking a chance of cracking the windshield if you roll the seal back when you paint if it is not already painted. So I have just been waiting for funds to paint before I go any further.

The inside is the same color primer and nothing is put back together just the seat is placed in it so I can drive it while loading and unloading. Also the show in Fairview, OK has a cruise and I am allowed to cruise it during the cruise and it gets a little breezy but is fun to get out and open it up a little.

I thought it might've been something like that, but thanks for the info. It turned out better than ok, looks real nice.
