Re: vin decode

Correct. Whether or not it is a Silverado is not coded in the VIN.

You would need to look at the SPID label for that.

Do you still have the SPID in the glovebox, or is that why you are asking?

Re: vin decode

Your vin begins with a 2 ....which means Canadian built...GM vintage services ...George Zapora ...can do an option print of all Canadian units.

Some GM dealers also kept the micro fiche records of RPOs that GM sent out.

The newer units are all available on the GM computer system.

Re: vin decode

I found out from this site that you could pretty much get a truck anyway you liked back then. the silverado package didn't really mean much. I had a 1980 silverado with manual windows and locks

Re: vin decode

At this time frame, You still had to order A/C, Power Window, Power locks, radio and I believe even power steering and brakes, Silverado package or not.

Actually - no. My 87 is a Scottsdale, which I ordered so that I could get manual windows, manual locks and the rubber floor mat (not carpet).

I did originally order it without A/C, but after the order was submitted I found out we were moving to Phoenix. I caught the order and had them change it to add A/C before the truck was built.
