Retuned the truck, worked on the interior some, flushed the radiator. That was about it.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
I worked Saturday and slept in today...so I didn't get much done besides the fact I covered a door panel for everyone to see and order...

got the rest of the roll cage pieces and window net, and finally bolted the rear back in with fresh 456 richmond gears, a moser spool and moser c-clip elims.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
Ordered all the parts for my 80 to (73-79) front end swap, which should get here by Tuesday. In the meantime I started removing all the 80 front end parts, layed down a fresh layer of paint on the core support, and leveled out and polished up the front bumper. Man, I can't wait for the new parts to come in!

Celebrated the Birthday. (it's not actually till the 5th. Will be 32 this year) Wound up with lots of help to order the wheels, etc. Cant wait. Also drilled and tapped the water pump for the nipple for the bleed hose. Thats about it.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
Stitch- door panel looks great man- I am sure I will deal with you in the future, once I aquire a Dually.
I don't have a square dually as of yet to work on....but I did work on the car my future square will be pulling! BEFORE- AFTER- 9" install pics. Narrowed 3"/side, backbraced, spooled, 4.11's, 35 spline axles, strange nodular center section, etc... Last edited by Leedogg; 10-03-2010 at 09:37 PM. |

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
Thanks. I've been really eyeing your work and I'm very, very impressed. I can't wait to move on to my interior so I can hit you up. I'd love to get my dash and door panels all hooked up.
Thanks. I'll post up my updates in my build thread...Project "FATBOY" |

Adam- they aren't cheap- but they say it should handle anything I plan to throw at it. Got rid of the crappy factory 10 bolt years ago, for a 12 bolt. 2 trips to the track and the 12 bolt became a whine monster...so now I am to this.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
I went back to the boneyard to get more interior parts from the truck I got my dark brown sun visors from. The truck was gone. I looked over at the crushing area, and there was a long bed with a decent driver door on it. So I snagged the door. The vent window hinge was busted. And there was some rust on the bottom. But the door skin itself was pretty straight except the edge at the rear of the door that is supposed to create the gap with the back of the cab was bent in a bit. Hopefully not hard to fix. Hopefully I got my tail light fuse blowing issue worked out. Lots and lots of bare wire by the back bumper. Installed the new door, used the vent window from the old door. Checked out the run-ability issue with the engine today. Did a compression check that revealed #1 cylinder only has 45 pounds compression, while all others have over 100. FML. Looks like I need a new engine. No more effort to spend on a 1969 307 block. I'm done with it. I'll run it while I get the old Cummins going again. Then it'll go back in the garage till I can afford a new engine. Crap crap crap.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
Turned 40 on Saturday . Started the day early , cut some firewood for the winter, went out to eat , etc. Mounted some 275/60/17 tires on some TT2's I have to see how they looked on the longbed but never actually bolted them on . today was a lazy day.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
I spent most of the weekend in Va Beach at the "Wild Wheels Weekend" indoor and outdoor show. The Heap was inside and won a "Top Pick" award, my S-10 was outside and grabbed a "Sponsor's Choice" award. Sunday's outside show was canceled due to rain.
Had a Blast!

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
I thought you guys might like this one. '75 Long Bed, Pro-Charger, and has been featured in Truckin. Super nice guy, the truck has been "finished" for a few years, still looks brand new in and out.

Re: what did you get done 10/3/10 edition
Removed the AIR tubes and broken bolts from the exhaust manifolds which was a PITA. I had to drill out one and enlarge to 7/16' then had to make a special 7/16 to 3/8* stud.
Finished (almost) stripping the 87 GMC frame. |
