1985 K20 Drivetrain

I have a 1985 K-20... it is lifted 6 inches and sits on 33's which are goin to be replaced by 35's... it has 4.11 gears. Right now it has no motor transmission or transfer case... I had a 350 with a sm465 and np203/0r 205. I really enjoyed the way it drove. I now have a 350 with a mild build ran 11 or 12s in a nova...with a Turbo 350 auto... I really dont want to use the auto so I am looking into purchasing another sm465 when i came across the nv4500... I use my truck as a daily driver... go mudding occasionally.. regurlarly pull people out of trouble.. and towing such as a travel trailer a tractor and other misc...
I cannot decide which tranny would be better? Has anyone ever used an overdrive unit from gear vendors on the sm465? I also need a transfer case... I could stand to leave it 2wd a while... Basically I just need to get this truck running and for cheap.. Any advice?

-Thanks Blake
