Rear axle

I didn't want to hijack on another thread so I started a new one. So, my rear axle is a 14B Full floater, right? identified by the eight bolts on the rear hub?

Re: Rear axle

Raycow, you told me "The FF has a 10.5" ring gear and no C-clips. The FF also has a straddle-mounted pinion like a Ford 9" or the GM-built 3/4 and 1 ton rears used 72 and earlier."

I just wanted to confirm what axle I have under my truck. That kind of thing is good to know. Thanks Ray

Re: Rear axle

Yup that is a 14FF the 14SF would not have that hub sticking out of your wheel.

Here is mine..looks the same to me.

Well its a FF for sure, but not necessarily a 14 bolt without seeing a pic of the center section. 72-earlier could have had a Dana 60 or H052.

Re: Rear axle

full floaters have hubs on the end of the axels and the axels bolt in, The semi floater has c clip axles that are just that held in with c-clips and there is a 1" difference in the ring gears.
