Transmission Problems

Just the past couple days, since it started getting colder. When I put my truck in drive, it does nothing. I have to keep it in drive and rev it up to get it to start moving. The longer the truck sits the longer I have to rev it. Once it starts goin everything is fine. I checked the fluid it looks clean, and doesnt smell burnt. It's a '69 c20, th400 with 66k miles, and I assume orginal trans.

It's called morning sickness. Try changing the fluid & filter & use a good brand of additive that is not a radical fix anything type. If that doesn't solve it you are due for an o-haul.

What about the vacuum line? It will be on the pass. side of the trans, you might want to check it or replace it.

I plan on changing the filter and fluid this weekend hoping that fixes it, as I don't have time or money for a new tranny or over haul. What do you recommend something like the Lucas trans. oil additive? And I forgot to say it seems to only happen in drive not reverse.

Trans X is a quick fix until you get everything changed. And even after that you could put a dose of that in.

This is just a thought, it been a while since I've down trans work, but could the trans be stuck in 3rd gear, since it tries to move, then takes off once it engages 1st?
