Call me lazy or whatever you want. I searched a few posts that looked like they would have the info and did not. It may be a stupid question but...

Can I use a 4wd crossmember on my 65 when I convert to an auto or does the crossmember need to come from a 2wd truck?

Sorry if this is covered somewhere else but I tried to search.

What do you mean? Automatic tranny crossmember? I am hoping for one for a TH350, are there that many different ones?

I was asking you by what you meant by cross members,"Can I use a 4wd crossmember on my 65". they didn't use an a/t in a 4x4 until 68 or 69 I believe.
they did use an a/t crossmembers for both the p/glide and the th400 which use can use or adapt something else in

Ooh, sorry thought I put the years, I am looking at a 73-87 crossmember and it is a 4wd one.

A 4wd crossmember actually supports the transfer case adapter, which I believe is lower than the typical 2wd trans mount. Plus the holes for the mounts are completely different than a 2wd transmission mount. I have not tried to use one, so I'm not speaking from experience in that respect. I would suggest just looking for a '66-'87 2wd automatic transmission crossmember.
