Re: Were did you mount your valves!

I think I'm gonna mount mine at the tank (like pic) but since you have a manifold you could prob fab up some brackets and attach it to the frame in a open location

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

my tank and vavles are mounted where my spare would be under the truck...... that being said If I had to do it again and I had manifolds I would mount the manifold just behind the front lip of the bed ( to try to keep water away on rainy days) and put the air tank/ compressor where the spare is..this keeps all your lines centerally located and fairly short from the manifolds......also run the biggest lines you can from the tank to manifold for that extra bit of free air storage

I've got BigRed valves and they're going to be mounted vertically on the core support on the driver's side, behind the headlight.

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

I just bought a diamond plate tool box yesterday, the kind that sits inside the bed rails and not on top of the bed rails. My compressor, tank, valves and my main battery is going to be mounted in the tool box. I will be using this truck to pull and launch my ski boat, I dont want all those items to be under water.

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

This is the set up I'm working on...it's going in my blazer though, not a truck. I didn't want to mount anything under the tub/on the frame, so I built a box to house the valves in and mounted the tank and compressor on top of it. It's not done, but here's what it looks like and where it's going.

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

Great thread. As I have been debating this for more than a month now. Really good to see what everyone is deciding. Myself, I am concerned about mounting the tank or the valves below the frame and want to keep it at least frame height. One idea was to mount everything behind the seat, valves, air tank and all. Don't know if it would all fit behind Buddy buckets. Another was to mount it all with a metal pan under it in front of the bed even with the frame height. Upholstered paneled plywood cover that matches the interior to cover the top similar to a bench seat. Just some of my personal ideas nothing in concrete yet..

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

Here is what we done with FIREDOG'S setup. Made this panel so everything could be removed in bad weather ie snow and setting out in the rain. All the wire connections and such are connected using the 4 way trailer connectors male/female. Makes it easy to store away, prevent pilferage and the bad weather. especially since it was parked outside all winter.

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

Wanted to add ended up cleaning a couple of the valves when they got contaminated some how. Sure made it easy to snatch the entire panel on to the work bench rather than crawling under the truck.

Here is what I ended up with.

Tank, valves, and pump are all located on the passenger inside frame.

GG...my valves are mounted in the rear spare tire area. What I discovered is with the lines being short and 1/2'' airline to the rear, the bags inflated very quickly and I had to re-do them with 3/8ths line and bigger bags. It would bounce me up in my seat! The long front lines will eat air capacity and make for a mellower experience. I would recommend a central location for the valves if possible. Something to consider anyway.....

Ya all my set up is 1/2"! are you running 1/2" in the front and 3/8s in the rear? or are you doing 3/8s all the way around? I know my kid wont mind the bounce! he likes it when i fill the bags in the rear to the max because it bounces him around! he gets a good laught!

Re: Were did you mount your valves!

I was running 1/2'', but the short lines to the rear bags popped the back of the truck up too fast for me. It was simply hard to adjust. I had to just tap the switches. I eventually changed out the rear to larger bags and 3/8's line to take the edge off.

The back of the truck is pretty lite; I think that is the reason for the harsh inflation combined with the short hose length.
